What is CPIA?

Canoga Park Improvement Association (CPIA) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization  in the Historic Old Town Canoga Park Arts and Business District.  The Sherman Way Corridor runs through its center and it is bound by Deeing on the East, Glade on the West, Wyandotte St. on the North and Gault St. on the South. CPIA manages a Property-Based Business Improvement District (P-BID) often referred to as the BID.  The BID works in partnership with the City of Los Angeles and community organizations to help create a district that is business friendly, appealing to pedestrians, commercially profitable, well regarded by the public and desirable for commercial tenants.

CPIA's primary areas of focus are: Landscape and Maintenance, Security, Marketing & Promotion, New Buiness Attraction and generally being a champion for and voice of the community it serves.

Since the beginning of the BID in 2000, the Historic Old Town District of Canoga Park has seen unprecedented changes.  Our community has transformed from a gang infested area of concern to a up-and-coming arts and cultural destination of the city.

This area touts a diverse array of exciting goods and services ranging from Antique Shopping, two live Performing A0rts Theatres, the oldest Health Food Market and Natural Cuisine Restaurant, the oldest Italian Market & Deli and the oldest Nursery in the valley.  It also has a hot-spot Pastery Shop, Live Comedy and Music at a local bar and restaurant, Big Band music at another establishment, a music venue for young adults and a traditional style pub.  There are two performing arts schools and both childrens and adults arts centers for exploring your inner artist.

Addionally there are a variety of widely publicized cultural & holiday community events enjoyed by visitors from all over the West San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles and outlying areas.

All-America City

In 2005, Canoga Park won the prestigious All-America City Award, a highly coveted honor bestowed annually to the neighborhood or city that demonstrates the most extraordinary civic transformation utilizing partnerships between local non-profits, local government and the community. CPIA  took a leadership roles in this process and we are very proud to be part gaining this National recognition for our community and as a first for the City of Los Angeles.
